ABOUT VISION WELFARE SOCIETY
The Vision Welfare Society is a registered one having the Registration no S/27603 of 1979-1980. For dealing with the foreign money, donation and foreign accounts it has got the code no. issued by the Ministry of Home affairs, Govt of India. The Code No Is 147110051. The Hospital is a charitable one and also a philanthropic Institution. It serves the patients irrespective of Casts, Creed, Race, Religion or Political affiliation.
With the support and aid from Donors of India and Abroad the Vision Welfare Society is going ahead with its mission of the restoration of Eyesight of these areas.
Brief History
The license of the Hospital was taken in the style and name of 'Lutheran Eye Clinic' at first. Due to whole hearted support and dedication of late Namita Biswas the wife of Late Dr Radha Mohan Biswas the founder of the Hospital, the said Hospital became very popular in and around South 24 Pargana District within a very short time. It was a small Eye clinic and was under the Lutheran World Service(I). In 1981 a society under the name and style 'The Vision Welfare Society' was formed. And the clinic was distinguished as 'Namita Biswas Memorial Eye Hospital'. Later on an young, enthusiastic, philanthropic minded Dr S P Chakrovorty M B B S, M S. who joined in 1978, took the charge of the newly built specialty Hospital in 1985. After one year he got the extended professional help of his colleague Dr Bimalendu Pal. Since then this two hard working energetic young doctors creating a miraculous incidence rendering medical (Eye) services to the poorer section of the locality through innumerable outreach clinic and free Operation camp extending up to remote area of Sunderban villages and even to the neighboring districts and States like Jharkhand, Bihar, and Orissa.
Mission and Future Vision
To engage in all such Social activities solely for Non profit basis and purely based on Philanthropic and charitable motive towards promotion of community health, advancement of learning cultivation of scientific thought etc, and in the process to attain the following objects:-
- To organize camps at various places for examination and operation of the eyes of students and persons of poor financial means.
- To distribute medicines for the poor and deserving patients suffering from eye diseases.
- To purchase, to take on lease or on other terms, to acquire properties (moveable and Immoveable) or any right of privileges which may be conductive to the attainment of the objects of the society and to increase, manage, sell mortgage to set out, to dispose of, to give on lease or otherwise deal with all or any other part of the property of the society.
- To construct, maintain repair to renovate any home, building or works necessary for the purpose of carrying on the activities of the society.
- To employ qualified Drs, nurses, research workers, teachers and other personnel's for running the centre's under the society and to provide and supply medicines, book and stationeries to research workers and/or make all such provisions and necessaries as may be required for all or anyone of the aforesaid objects.
- To accept technical advices and assistances in cash or kind from any charitable, national and International organization solely for the promotion of the avowed objectives of the society.
- To invite and accept contribution, subscription, donations (whether movable or Immovable properties), gifts, legacies, bequests, and grants of all sorts from any member of the public as well as Municipalities, local boards, District Council, State Governments and the Central Government or from any other sources.
- To take such steps by personal or written appeal, public show or otherwise, as may from time to time deem - expedient for the purpose of procuring contribution to the funds of the society in the shape of monthly or annual subscription and donation etc.
- To raise funds by borrowing with or without security whenever necessary for the running of different centre's and such Institutions from Nationalized Banks, financial Institutions, general public and also from individuals.
- To incur expenditure and make all necessary financial arrangement for carrying on the work of the society.
- To make donations and grants or give subscriptions and otherwise assist individuals workers, Institutions or Associations or other bodies when this is considered desirable for the furtherance of the aforesaid objects of the society or any of them.
- To plough back any surplus receipts over expenditure for the future development of the society.
- To frame rules and regulations and to modify or resend the same from time to time.
- To do all such acts, deeds, and things necessary and conductive to the effectuation of all or any of the aforesaid objects and purposes which are deemed to be charitable purposes.
- The Income and property of the society whenever, derived shall be applied solely towards the promotions of the objects of the society as set forth in the memorandum of Association and no portion thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or Indirectly by way of dividends, loans or otherwise howsoever by way of profit to the members of the society provided that nothing herein shall prevent the payment, in good faith, or remuneration of any member of the society or other persons in return for any service actually rendered to the society nor prevent payment of Interest at the current Bank rate or any sum borrowed from any member of the society.
An eye care program has also been taken up in our program under the sponsorship of the operation eyesight Universal, Canada for various development works and activities for both in the Hospital as well as in the rural areas.
With the increase in the number of patients attending both the Indoor as well as in the Outdoor sections, the project has to face a lot of problems for its maintenance.
It has as such opened various units such as Pathology Unit, Specs Corner, Pay Clinic, Medicine Shop as per provision of the Constitution of the Society so that the Income derived from these units may be utilized solely for the promotion of the objects of the Society in pursuance of the provisions of the memorandum. At present, the 'Vision Welfare Society' managed to run the Namita Biswas Memorial Eye Hospital with a modern outlook to serve all section of the SOCIETY with all modern Instrument with their highly professional Drs team (Ophthalmology) and by their qualified paramedical staffs.
